Owned by the ancient noble Della Gherardesca family, it dates back to the year 600 when it was a horse outpost and geodetic point. In 1939 Count Uguccione and Countess Lea Della Gherardesca employed the famed architect Tullio Rossi to transform it into a hunting and summer residence.
The estate includes 7 hectares of unspoiled private grounds (1.5 hectars of which are the villa’s garden), a refined two-story villa and a swimming pool, Villa Cavalleggeri is one of the only properties in the area located very close to the rolling waves of the Tyrrhenean sea. The sandy golden beach is just a 2-minute walk from the villa on a private trail and it is the only one in the area that has its own private beach hut, on stilts!
Villa Cavalleggeri is a child-friendly villa, perfect for family vacations and reunions. The property is a dog-friendly property, as it also accepts up to 2 dogs, who can also run on the beach (as Italian law usually doesn’t allow dogs on the beach).
The owners of the villa include an in-house chef, who will cook breakfast, lunch and dinner for the clients. The clients will only have to pay for the groceries.
The villa is framed by grand swaying pine trees, and fully preserves the graceful period architectural structure. The bedrooms and communal areas are spacious, airy and filled with light, providing a naturally refined setting, serene ambiance for marvelous leisurely days.
Tastefully decorated and refurbished to meet all modern expectations, the property offers state-of-the-art facilities – such as outdoor lighting, automatic gate, swimming pool and WIFI connection. The villa is also filled with a genuinely refined noble Tuscan atmosphere.
The communal areas are not air conditioned, as the location and the structure of the villa enables natural ventilation throughout the day and night, therefore it’s never too warm for comfort. Three bedrooms have air conditioning, while the other bedrooms all have fans.
The villa accommodates up to 12 guests + 2 children and/or teenagers (additional accommodation suitable for 1 child/teenager/young adult guest as per details below) in its 7 finely furnished bedrooms, 6 doubles (3 of which twin) and 1 single. 5 of the double bedrooms each have their own en-suite bathrooms; 1 double shares the adjacent bathroom with the single bedroom. When the TV room accommodates an additional guest (child/teenager in sofa bed), this guest shares one of the double bedrooms’ bathroom.
All of the bedrooms are elegant and full of character, with warm touches and elegant Tuscan details in each room. Cotto or wooden flooring, white washed wooden beam ceilings, ancient style bed frames and exquisite fabrics create a marvelous blend.
The villa’s communal areas are truly lovely: spacious and filled with light, tastefully furnished and decorated, and they feature grand family portraits and coats of arms. These rooms include an extensive beautiful living room, enhanced by a fireplace and large windows, an elegant dining room and a study, as well as the kitchen and a convenient study and guest bathroom (on the ground floor) and the TV viewing room (on the first floor). The charming country style kitchen, warmed by an open fireplace, is perfect for barbecuing and trying out Maremman cuisine! The TV room may be used as a convenient additional single bedroom, suitable for a child or teenager, to be accommodated in the comfortable sofa bed (in this case the additional guest shares a bathroom with one of the double bedrooms).
Outside, the villa features a lovely terrace-deck: furnished with sun umbrellas, dining table, chairs and a barbecue, it is a picture-perfect spot for alfresco dining and entertaining, or… simply relaxing, caressed by the soft Maremman breezes, in full privacy!
The property boasts a unique feature in its location and private beach cabin. Surrounded by the thick pristine vegetation of the Natural Reserve, the villa rises right by the sea immersed in the dreamlike landscape and at a short scenic drive from the celebrated Bolgheri vineyards.
A two-minute walk from the beach, it is the only villa in the surroundings to boast its very own private wooden beach hut. The hut, rustic and charming, rises on stilts, and includes a superb outdoor patio, furnished with a dining table, chairs and a barbecue.
